Ponte Vedra Beach (Fla.) Ponte Vedra three-star interior offensive lineman Jake Guarnera is committing on April 28. He will choose between Florida, Michigan, NC State, Penn State and Rutgers.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Wolverines have a commanding lead for his pledge at 89.3%. Michigan’s odds greatly rose following expert predictions from EJ Holland of The Wolverine and Zach Libby of The Wolverine.

“Guarnera is coming off his third unofficial visit to Michigan back in March after two trips last summer,” Libby said. “It’s safe to say that the Wolverines shot up the Florida native’s leaderboard because of his latest experience in Ann Arbor. More personal time with the coaching staff, including offensive line coach Sherrone Moore, as well as his relationships with verbal commits Luke Hamilton and Ben Roebuck, have changed the confidence level of Michigan potentially landing its center take this spring.

“Consecutive Joe Moore Awards and the individual success of Olu Oluwatimi last season gives an interior target like Guarnera a lot to consider with the Wolverines, who should feel confident heading into the junior’s planned commitment date on April 28th.”

Guarnera is the No. 642 overall prospect and No. 42 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 89 player in Florida.

On3 rates Guarnera higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Even though he is not ranked in the 2024 On300, Guarnera is the No. 29 interior offensive lineman in the country and No. 62 player in Florida.

Michigan is landing talented offensive linemen this cycle

Right now, Michigan’s 2024 recruiting class is No. 5 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 2 in the Big Ten. The Wolverines’ group is led by Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis, the No. 26 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking.

Michigan’s success in the trenches under Moore is playing a part in its hot start this cycle. Four of the Wolverines’ 11 commits play on the offensive line: Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst four-star offensive tackle Andrew Sprague, Avon (Ohio) four-star interior offensive lineman Luke Hamilton, Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward three-star offensive tackle Ben Roebuck and Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall three-star interior offensive lineman Manuel Beigel.

In addition to Guarnera, Moore, head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff are recruiting more talented offensive linemen. They include Frisco (Texas) Reedy four-star interior offensive lineman Max Anderson, Austin (Texas) Vandegrift four-star offensive tackle Blake Frazier and Sugar Land (Texas) Fort Bend Christian Academy four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren.

The RPM currently gives Michigan a commanding lead for both Anderson (96.1%) and Frazier (95.8%).
