Ty Hawkins is one of the nation’s top passers in the 2025 class out of San Antonio (Texas) Claudia Johnson Taylor High School.

Hawkins, the No. 7-ranked quarterback in the On300 for the 2025 class, committed to TCU last summer over offers from Baylor, Houston, SMU and others. The 6-foot, 200-pounder was back in Funky Town last month taking in the sights and sounds during one of the Horned Frogs’ junior day — doing a little bit of recruiting for his class and continuing to further his connections with the coaches.

“It was great getting back down there and getting to see Coach (Sonny) Dykes and Coach (Kendal) Briles,” Hawkins told On3. “I love being there, I love just getting up there and I enjoyed it a lot.”

Hawkins is no stranger to TCU and has frequented the campus on multiple occasions since his mid-summer commitment last year.

The On300 quarterback remains loyal to his commitment.

“I committed super early and I’m still comfortable with my commitment,” Hawkins detailed. “Coach Briles is my favorite coach to talk to. I’m really close with him, I’m really comfortable with him, and we have good conversations always. Coach Dykes is like family at this point.”

“Now, I’m trying to get my class up and get some guys in there to come in with me,” the four-star QB added.

In addition to checking out TCU last month, Hawkins also made a pit-stop at Miami. He’s picked up a scholarship offer from Cal and has received a good amount of interest from the new coaching staff at Stanford.

Hawkins has family on the West Coast, so he did not rule out a visit to either one of the Pac-12 schools down the road. He also expects to get back to Fort Worth later this spring.

“I got the Cal offer recently and I’ve been talking to Stanford a lot, too. Those are two big schools and two smart schools,” Hawkins said. “But I’m comfortable where I’m at.”

Hawkins is tabbed as the No. 10 QB and No. 158 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 is higher on the TCU commitment — rating him as the No. 7 QB in the 2025 class and the No. 85 overall prospect in the nation.
