Sam Pittman’s pipeline from Oklahoma to Arkansas got even stronger.

On300 cornerback Micah Tease committed to the Razorbacks on Independence Day, providing even more fireworks for Pittman’s 2023 class, which now includes two of the Sooner State’s top-four players. Arkansas edged out Oklahoma as well as Texas A&M, Michigan State, USC and Notre Dame for Tease, who believes there’s a new energy in place in Fayetteville these days.

“We’re establishing a new era of the Hogs,” Tease told On3. “It’s always been Boomer Soomer coming up with an era of Oklahoma dominating, but Arkansas is on the rise. I’ve looked at Arkansas coming up, but never paid too much attention. As I understood college football more, it’s a hidden gem. It’s a place with a lot of gold and hidden gems.”

Tease has frequented Fayetteville over the past year and pointed out that the distance from his hometown of Tulsa, Okla., is actually closer than to Norman, Okla. Despite being tabbed as the No. 18-ranked cornerback in the country on the On3 Consensus, he was recruited primarily by offensive coordinator Kendal Briles and wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton.

“Ultimately, it came down to my relationships with Coach Guiton and Coach Briles,” Tease said. “My relationship with Coach Guiton has always been strong and I like my fit in the Arkansas system. I’ll definitely have an opportunity to play.”

Pittman played an equally — if not more — pivotal role in reeling Tease as a decision came to a close. That included another one-on-one sitdown with The Head Hog during his official visit right before the dead period hit.

“Coach Pittman played a huge role,” he said. “My official visit this past weekend: if it wasn’t to Pittman, I was talking to Guiton or Briles. Pittman was heavy on me. Every time I go down there, I would be the person meeting longest with Pittman besides Luke. I found loyalty in Coach Pittman. He’s a trustworthy person. I can trust him and count on his word and that meant security for my parents. Coach Pittman is gonna help me become a young man and he has the staff to do it and the right people in the facility to help me grow and mold me into a better person.”

Tease is the No. 126 player in the country according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
