Four-star quarterback Justyn Martin of Inglewood (Calif.) High School has announced his commitment to the UCLA Bruins on Thursday.

The 6-foot-4, 210 pounder chose the Bruins over Ole Miss and Michigan.

Martin, who is ranked as the No. 10 QB in the On300, elaborated more in-depth on his decision.

Current and Future of UCLA

“It fit me in many aspects and it doesn’t hurt that it’s down the street,” Martin said. “I like where the program is heading and I like how Dorian (Thompson-Robinson) is performing in this offense. The 2022 class is already strong and I believe we will be great in the future.”

Tight Relationships With Coaches on Staff

“Coach (Ryan) Gunderson is my primary recruiter and our relationship goes way back to when he was at San Jose,” Martin said. “He’s been consistent with me and he has shown love for a long time. Coach (Chip) Kelly talks to me every week and he has been straightforward with me from the jump.”

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said UCLA landing Justyn Martin is a significant addition for coach Chip Kelly.

“Justyn Martin would be the most physically talented quarterback that Chip Kelly has signed at UCLA,” Power said. “He’s continued to progress over the past year and is playing well as a senior.”

“Martin is a big quarterback who pairs a strong arm with above-average mobility. He can drive the ball down the field and make some second-reaction plays with his feet. Martin has longer arms which can lead to a longer throwing motion but has worked to quicken things up. Landing a talented passer from their back yard is certainly a nice development for the Bruins.”

UCLA currently sits at the No. 30 Class in the On3 2022 Team Rankings.
