Spring Valley (Calif.) Mount Miguel five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington has set the finish line for his recruitment and will announce his commitment on July 5. He’s now taking his official visits and is entering the home stretch of his process.

His OV schedule kicked off this weekend with a trip to Penn State. While not considered a top contender by many, the Nittany Lions have remained in Arrington’s top group and had a chance to set the tone and make a huge in-person impression.

The 6-foot-2.5, 180-pounder got to spend time around the PSU staff and soak in Happy Valley:

While Penn State hasn’t been able to get Arrington across the country on campus frequently like some of his other top schools, head coach James Franklin and his staff have positioned themselves well in the high-profile recruitment.

Alabama, Texas A&M, Oregon and USC are the other top schools for the five-star. He’ll get back out to each — Texas A&M (June 5), Alabama (June 13), USC (June 17) and Oregon (June 20) — before committing.

“I am about relationships and who’s been in it with me,” Arrington told On3 last month when naming his top six — Georgia did not make the latest cut. “I can see myself at any of these schools and they all know how to develop players.”

Arrington is the No. 13 overall prospect and top-ranked CB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 player in California.

Penn State has Top-10 recruiting class thus far

Landing a player of Arrington’s caliber would be monumental in Penn State’s push to sign a top-five recruiting class this cycle. To date, the Nittany Lions have the nation’s No. 9 class, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

The pledge list currently features 14 prospects. Harrisburg (Pa.) four-star interior offensive lineman Kevin Brown remains the top-ranked pledge in the class and now checks in as the No. 51 overall prospect and No. 3 IOL. He committed at the end of July last summer.

His teammate, four-star running back Messiah Mickens, has been pledged since Aug. 19, 2023. Despite the recent departure of PSU running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider, Mickens remains in the class and is a top-200 prospect and No. 15 RB overall.

Mcdonald (Pa.) Fort Cherry four-star safety Matt Sieg, Nazareth (Pa.) four-star athlete Peyton Falzone, Coatesville (Pa.) Area four-star linebacker Terry Wiggins and Pittsburgh Imani Christian Academy four-star cornerback David Davis are four more elite in-state commits. The Nittany Lions currently have six of the Keystone State’s top 11 recruits in the mix.

San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills four-star quarterback Troy Huhn committed last June and is now the No. 19 QB in the cycle. Princeton (W.V.) four-star EDGE commit Daniel Jennings is the top-ranked recruit in West Virginia.

Bear (Del.) Appoquinimink three-star wide receiver Jahsier Rogers, Atco (N.J.) Winslow Township three-star CB Julian Peterson and Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic three-star WR Lavar Keys are among those that round out the class.
