CFB Week 9 Final Thoughts: UGA vs Florida | Tennessee Vols Playmaker | Maalik Murphy Start for Texas

Rece Davis revealed some unfortunate news as ESPN College GameDay began on Saturday, as Lee Corso won’t be joining the fun in Utah.

While thankfully Davis explained that Corso’s absence isn’t health-related, his charismatic personality will still certainly be missed throughout Saturday morning.

College GameDay, glad to have you with us. Rece Davis along with Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee and Desmond Howard. Lee Corso, not with us this week,” Davis said. “I want to reassure you, his health is good. Lee feels fine. He just had a family matter that required his attention.

“We know he’s locked in on the show because he already stole my preferred Super Dog.”

The show won’t be the same without Corso, but it’s welcomed news to know that he’s not dealing with a health issue on Saturday. Hopefully, he’s back and better than ever next weekend, but we’ll miss you in Week 9, LC.

Steve Smith Sr. announced as College GameDay celebrity guest picker on Pat McAfee Show

In other ESPN College GameDay-related news, the show is on hand for a clash between the Oregon Ducks and Utah Utes in the latter’s stadium, and many wondered who the Celebrity Guest Picker would be.

A myriad of names came to mind, but Pat McAfee spilled the beans during his show on Friday. Evidently, NFL legend and former Utes star Steve Smith Sr. will be doing the job for Saturday’s show.

“I think we could make the big announcement, Celebrity Guest Picker tomorrow on College GamDay,” McAfee revealed, pointing at Smith as the crowd erupted with cheers. “That’s going to be awesome. I got so excited when I heard about that. Obviously, we’ve had incredible guest pickers all season, but with you coming on? I have a feeling you’re going to go clean slate. You’re picking perfect tomorrow, across the whole board.

“With that big brain, in this great state, hell yeah Steve. I think you’re going perfect tomorrow. I think it’s a great day.”

During his time at Utah back in the day, Steve Smith Sr. amassed 78 receptions for 1,608 yards and 12 touchdowns, with another 1,365 return yards and 4 touchdowns on special teams. Afterward, he had an illustrious NFL career, making his mark mainly with the Carolina Panthers.

Now, he’ll look to show up and show out on College GameDay this morning, as his boisterous personality will be welcomed on the show.
