Report: Packers star cornerback looking for huge pay-day

The Packers have immense talent on their roster. To keep their nucleus together, they’re going to have to pay. According to a report from Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, star cornerback Jaire Alexander is already counting his dollars.
“Davante Adams isn’t the only Packer looking to be the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL. Had some conversations recently about Jaire Alexander, and I expect him to be the highest-paid CB on his next deal,” tweeted Schneidman. “Jalen Ramsey currently No. 1 at $20 million per year.”
Since joining Green Bay, Alexander has elevated into one of the league’s top cornerbacks. Evidently, he’s ready to be paid like one. The former Louisville star has a bright future in Green Bay, but he knows his worth and isn’t willing to settle for less.
First, the Packers have to get Aaron Rodgers’ signature on a new contract. Then, Davante Adams and Jaire Alexander can get taken care of. Once the first domino falls, the others will follow.
Nevertheless, the Packers won’t be letting Jaire Alexander wear another uniform. The former Louisville star is going to get paid, and Green Bay will be footing the bill. It’s a matter of when, not if.

Report: Packers expected to make major move with star cornerback
Moreover, Jaire Alexander isn’t the only member of the Green Bay secondary looking for a pay-day. The Packers are expected to make a major move regarding cornerback Rasul Douglas. According to a report from Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, Green Bay is bringing back Douglas.
“The Green Bay Packers are expected to retain veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas in free agency, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly,” reported Wilson. “Douglas and the Packers have mutual interest in extending their working relationship following an outstanding season, per sources.”
Last season, Douglas joined the Packers via free agency during the season. He made an immediate impact on the franchise, and became a staple in their secondary. Now, the star defensive back is expected to reap the rewards of his effort.
The Packers already extended pass rusher Preston Smith, and Aaron Rodgers is of course returning to the franchise. Now, Rasul Douglas is the latest domino to fall as the Packers build a Super Bowl caliber team.
