Report: Vince McMahon involved in gruesome collision, cited for reckless driving

Former WWE owner Vince McMahon, the founder of modern professional wrestling, was reportedly involved in a serious car accident last Thursday in Conneticut, according to TMZ. McMahon’s accident occured at 9 am ET last Thursday, just hours before the death of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea.
According to the accident report obtained by TMZ, McMahon’s 2024 Bentley was following too closely and rear-ended a 2023 BMW 430 that forced both vehicles into a wooden guardrail median separating the two-lane Route 14 in Westport, resulting in debris from their collision landing in the neighboring southbound lane that a Ford Fusion hit resulting in significant damage to a third vehicle.
The force of the initial rear-ending was so severe it forced the airbags to deploy in both McMahon’s Bentley and the BMW. All three vehicles involved in the accident had to be towed from the scene with about 30-feet of damage to the median guardrail, per TMZ.
The 79-year-old McMahon was issued a misdemeanor reckless driving citation for following too closely and resulting in an accident. The former wrestling promotor is expected to appear in court in August.
McMahon voluntarily resigned as the chairman and CEO of WWE in mid-2022 following an internal investigation into his conduct, and then completely separated himself from the company he helped create in January 2024 amid disturbing allegations of sexual assault, trafficking and physical abuse, according to CNN. McMahon named his daughter, Stephanie McMahon, as the new chairwoman and co-CEO of WWE alongside Nick Khan, while Paul Levesque — who goes by Triple H in the ring — is Head of WWE creative.
While he hasn’t addressed the accident yet, McMahon did issue a statement following Hulk Hogan’s death due to cardiac arrest last Thursday.
