Richard Sherman undoubtedly left his mark on the NFL as a player. Now, the former All-Pro cornerback could be taking his talents to the broadcast booth. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Sherman is in discussions with Amazon to join the broadcasting team next season.

Rapoport said that Sherman isn’t giving up on an opportunity to return to the NFL as a player, but as of now, he is looking towards his future as a broadcaster.

“Sources: All-Pro CB Richard Sherman is deep in talks with Amazon for a key role in their programming this coming season,” Rapoport tweeted. “He’ll stay in shape for a possible NFL opportunity, but as of now, all eyes on his broadcasting future.”

Sherman first joined the NFL in 2011, when the Seattle Seahawks selected him in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Stanford. In his NFL career, Sherman has been named to five Pro Bowls and he is a three-time All-Pro. Sherman won one Super Bowl, and he established himself as one of the best defensive backs in the entire league.

In seven seasons with the Seahawks, Sherman played in 105 games and totaled 32 interceptions, 99 passes defended, five forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and 368 total tackles. He then joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2018, where he had four interceptions, 16 passes defended and 116 tackles in three years. Sherman was a late-season pickup this past year for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In five games, he had one interception and one pass defended.

If Sherman’s deal with Amazon gets wrapped up and finalized, he will be the latest addition to an already star-studded broadcast team. Amazon has brought in Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit to lead its Thursday Night Football broadcast, and Sherman would only add another entertaining personality to an already impressive-looking team.
