Even though the SEC Baseball Tournament got underway on Tuesday morning, there has already been a pause in play. Alabama and Georgia were able to complete their matchup, with the Crimson Tide getting a 5-3 victory over the Bulldogs. However, it could be quite some time before another pitch is thrown.

The SEC announced Game 2 of the tournament between Florida and South Carolina does not have a scheduled start time and it is considered “TBD.” The conference expects a “significant delay” due to inclement weather in the Hoover, Alabama area.

Auburn and Kentucky were supposed to end the night with Game 4, wrapping up the first round of single elimination. Instead, Game 4 has been pushed back to Wednesday, with that start will also being TBD.

More on SEC Tournament, the two matchups

Florida, who is the seventh seed took, two of three from now-10th seeded South Carolina during the final weekend series of the year. However, Tuesday will be a win-or-go-home scenario, as the bracket has not reached the double-elimination portion yet.

From an NCAA Tournament perspective, the Gators should be safe thanks to their solid performance in conference play throughout the season. The Gamecocks would need to go on a bit of a run, though, if more postseason baseball is in their future.

Whoever comes out victorious on Tuesday night will get to face off against Texas A&M in the second round. First pitch for that matchup is set to take place at 4:30 p.m., as the double-elimination portion of the bracket will begin.

Auburn will be facing off against Kentucky, which serves as the lowest-ranked team in the tournament. The Tigers have been one of the conference’s top teams all year and are looking for their first title since 1998. If they were to advance, LSU would be on the other side for a high-intensity matchup.
