The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trading Shaq Mason to the Houston Texans, per Jeremy Fowler.

In exchange for the veteran offensive lineman, Houston is sending a sixth round pick to Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers are also sending a seventh round pick back to the Texans in the trade.

This trade is going to help Tampa Bay clear up cap space, which it needs as free agency is in full force. For Houston, this gives the offensive line a veteran presence ahead of likely drafting a quarterback with the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Shaq Mason played his college football at Georgia Tech before being drafted by the New England Patriots in 2015. He won two Super Bowls in New England before being traded for a fifth round pick and rejoining quarterback Tom Brady in Tampa Bay for the 2022 season.

Mason is scheduled to make $8.5 million in 2023 with Tampa Bay saving $5.3 million by trading him.
