2024 Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton four-star wide receiver Debron Gatling is down to eight schools, and Texas A&M remains in the mix for the top-300 prospect, who’s already visited College Station twice in recent months.

In addition to the Aggies, Gatling is considering Ole Miss, Penn State, LSU, Miami, Alabama, Tennessee and Oklahoma. Of his top eight, he’s made visits to Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee and Miami, along with Texas A&M.

He made his first visit down to College for the Aggies’ pool party event the last weekend of July and it could not have gone better.

“I really enjoyed my time there,” he said. “Probably my best visit.”

He added.

“Just the way they treated me,” he said. “The hospitality, the way the coaches were. Everything was just great all-around. There wasn’t anything I had to worry about. It was just perfect. It was just a perfect visit for real.”

The four-star returned in September to see Texas A&M defeat Miami and already plans to return at the end of November to see the Aggies take on LSU.

Gatling’s been in contact with Texas A&M assistant Nick Williams for months and the two have built a strong relationship.

“He’s just a real cool guy. It’s like he’s my age when I’m talking to him,” he said. “Always excited, always up, always have the energy. Just really mess with Coach Nick [Williams].”

In addition to the communication from Williams, another key factor in Gatling making the trip was the urging of his former high school teammate, Texas A&M freshman defensive lineman Lebbeus Overton.

“He was just telling me [while I was on my visit] ‘I told you bro, how it was down here,’” he said. “He’s been telling me how nice it was, how fun it was.”

Gatling added that he spent nearly everyday of his trip with Overton and was impressed with how much muscle the former five-star had added since enrolling at Texas A&M over the summer.

The four-star is not looking to make a decision anytime soon, eying a date of Sep. 21, 2023 to make his commitment, but the Aggies have set themselves high on his list early on.

Gatling ranks as the No. 286 prospect and the No. 43 wide receiver in the country per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The four-star has an On3 NIL Valuation of $33K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
