Corona (Calif.) Oaks Christian four-star cornerback Davon Benjamin began his official visit schedule over the weekend with a trip to Michigan. He’ll get back on the road in the coming days to see another one of his top contenders.

According to On3’s Chad Simmons, Benjamin, the No. 1 corner in the 2026 On300, will head down to Austin this weekend for an official visit with Texas.

The Longhorns are squarely in the mix for the Golden State standout and are looking to separate from the pack, competing against schools like Georgia, Miami, Oregon and USC. Benjamin has visited The Forty Acres before and will now return for his second OV in as many weekends.

“The visit to Texas showed me how coach Sarkisian runs the program and what the standard is there,” Benjamin told Simmons last month. “They have been in the college football playoffs and are close to playing for the championship. They are getting better and better. Arch Manning is there, DeAndre Moore is there and I like the culture up there.”

Benjamin is the No. 39 overall prospect and No. 4 CB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 7 player in California.

On3 ranks the 5-foot-11.5, 165-pounder higher than other recruiting services. Per the 2026 On300, Benjamin ranks No. 20 overall and is also the top-ranked corner in the cycle.

Texas pushing for Top-10 recruiting class

To date, Texas has the No. 14 class in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Eight commits are in the class, following four pledges last month.

Willis (Texas) four-star athlete Jermaine Bishop Jr., a top-100 overall recruit, announced a surprise pledge on May 14. on May 9, Texas beat out LSU for New Orleans Edna Karr four-star cornerback Hayward Howard Jr. The No. 12 player in Louisiana, Howard Jr. is now one of two listed defensive prospects in the mix alongside Austin (Texas) Anderson three-star safety Yaheim Riley, a former Houston commit.

“The culture is what keeps me coming back,” Bishop told InsideTexas earlier this year. “Those guys are really great and treat me like family. I got an offer from (Texas) two years ago, so them being able to keep that culture and that bond is pretty special.”

Back in February, Melissa (Texas) four-star offensive tackle Max Wright committed. He checks in just outside the top 300 nationally and is the No. 25 OT in the cycle. Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek four-star wide receiver Chris Stewart has been pledged since last June.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage five-star quarterback Dia Bell committed to Texas last June, too. The son of former NBA veteran Raja Bell, Dia has only seen his stock soar since locking in with Sarkisian, AJ Milwee and Co. He ranks No. 4 nationally and No. 2 at QB in the updated On300.

Spring (Texas) Klein three-star interior offensive lineman Nicolas Robertson and Plano (Texas) Prestonwood Christian three-star long snapper Trott O’Neal round out the pledge list.
