Willis (Texas) four-star athlete Jermaine Bishop Jr. has committed to Texas, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

He chose the Longhorns over the likes of Florida, Oklahoma, USC, Texas A&M and a plethora of other big offers.

Bishop Jr. is the No. 74 overall prospect and No. 5 ATH in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 player in Texas.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas staff have picked up their third blue-chip in-state recruiting win of the cycle. Bishop was back in Austin at the end of April and is now in the mix for the SEC program. No school has had Bishop on campus more than Texas.

“The culture is what keeps me coming back,” he told InsideTexas earlier this year. “Those guys are really great and treat me like family. I got an offer from (Texas) two years ago, so them being able to keep that culture and that bond is pretty special.”

Bishop is a dynamic two-way playmaker at the high school level. As a junior for Willis, he caught 83 passes for 1,565 yards and 18 touchdowns while also collecting 26 total tackles and three interceptions, per MaxPreps.

Across three seasons, Bishop has nearly 3,000 receiving yards, 44 total TDs, overall 100 total tackles and 13 interceptions. Willis finished as a top-20 team in Texas last season, according to the On3 Composite Rankings.

Texas now has seven commits in its 2026 class. The addition of Bishop helped the Longhorns move up to No. 15 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Bishop a top performer on camp circuit this spring

Bishop has continued to raise his stock ahead of his senior campaign. He was named a top performer at OT7’s Golden Ticket event by On3 National Scout Cody Bellaire last month:

“Day 1 On3 MVP Jermaine Bishop Jr. put together an incredibly strong weekend of work at the OT7 Golden Ticket Tournament and his team fell just short of the championship. Bishop had another quality outing on Day 2 collecting three touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball as well as two pass breakups and an interception that was called back for a defensive holding on the other side of the field. He has proven this weekend that he’s a true two-way football who’s dynamic in the slot on either side of the ball,” Bellaire wrote.
