Karter Knox is the 2024 On3 Consensus No. 11 ranked player. The 6-foot-5 wing played up on 17u for the Florida Rebels and averaged 18-points and 4.7-rebounds on 1.6 threes per game and 51.7-percent shooting at Nike’s Peach Jam.

“I am a three-level scorer,” Knox told On3. “I like to get to my mid-range, but I can shoot the three and finish at the rim.”

In June, Knox, the younger brother of 2018 NBA Lottery Pick Kevin Knox, also won a gold medal in the u17 FIBA World Games.

“Team USA was a great experience for me,” Knox said. “I learned a lot of new things and met a lot of new players. The competition was top-notch. It was a great feeling traveling across the world to play against different players and represent my country.”

College coaches have started to prioritize the Tampa (FL) Catholic wing. On3 caught up with Karter Knox at Nike’s Peach Jam to talk about his recruitment and which schools are prioritizing him.

“I’m hearing the most right now from LSU, UCF, and Kentucky,” Knox said. “I haven’t set any official visit dates yet, but I did take one unofficial to Kentucky. I hear a good bit from Louisville too.”

Knox talks recruitment

LSU: “They are a great school; they have a great football program. They have had a lot of players come out of there for basketball too. It’s in Baton Rouge, which is a good city too. They like how I score the ball efficiently.”

UCF: “They are close to home. It is a good school, and Johnny Dawkins is the coach there. They are moving to the Big 12, which is a great conference. So I think it would be a great experience there.”

Kentucky: “They are telling me to keep my head straight and to keep working. They tell me not to let the offer go to my head and stuff. When I visited, I saw how hard he coaches his players and how that tough environment gets his players prepared.”

Louisville: “With Kenny Payne at Kentucky, I grew up with him, you know. He was very hard on Kevin at Kentucky, so I know he will be hard on me and push me. They are a great school, and he is a good coach.”

UNC and Ohio State haven’t offered yet, but I think they could be close,” Knox said.

Karter Knox, this and that

“I grew up a Flordia State football fan,” Knox said. “Both my parents went to Florida State, and my dad played football there. So it was Florida State football all around my house growing up.”

“I am not locked into any one school right now,” Knox said. “My recruitment is wide open right now to any school who wants to recruit me. I hope to sit down after we finish Peach Jam and try to set up some official visits.”

I wouldn’t mind playing with Tre Johnson in college,” Knox said. “I’ve been trying to recruit him, seeing where he is going to go. He’s tough; that’s my dog.”

OTE and G-League

“Overtime Elite has been in contact with us, but G-League is still waiting,” Knox said. “I am open to both, at least having conversations and finding out more about them.”
