Trent Perry averaged almost 13 points and five rebounds for Dive Nation on Nike’s EYBL E15 Circuit. This summer, the 6-foot-4 wing was also a finalist for the USA Basketball U16 team. It was a big summer for Perry, coming off a freshman year that saw him lead his Frisco (TX) Lone Star High team in scoring (14.3), rebounding (7.6), assists (3.4), and steals (2.1).

“I like to get to the rim,” Perry told On3. “My jumper is developing, so I like to get into the mid-range and my catch and shoot, but my main strength is getting to the rim. I’ve been in the gym every morning with my shooting coach, working on my jumper. I watch a lot of LeBron, how he gets to his spots and his mid-range.”

On3 caught up with Trent Perry after a recent live viewing to talk about his recruitment.

Perry talks recruiting

“I have an offer from TCU and Texas A&M so far,” Perry said. “I’ll go visit TCU this weekend and to A&M in September.”

Texas A&M: “I love Coach Buzz (Williams), and I love that program. I call Coach (Lyle) Wolfe regularly, and we talk often. I like the defensive mindset they play with; they grind it out and play tough.”

TCU: “I know they have a great basketball program. They have been recruiting me hard so far. Seeing the school and the environment and everything will be big. They ask about me off the court, ask about my academics when we talk, and how my workouts are going.

(Editor’s note – This interview was conducted on Saturday, and Perry visited TCU for Elite Camp on Sunday)

“We’ve heard from schools like Michigan State and Michigan a little bit,” Perry said. “I used to like Duke when I was a kid, and UNC too. I liked UNC because of the shoes.”

In Perry’s words

“I’m looking for a school that has interest in me,” Perry said. “They know how I play and have a role set out for me. I’ll look at their academics too. I want to play for a team that plays fast and plays defense. Get the rebound and go, play quick, don’t slow things down too much.”
