The college basketball season is off and running, and the Coaches Poll Top 25 has been updated following a wild Week 3 of college basketball. It’s early in the season, but college basketball is getting a new No. 1 team.

While No. 1 Gonzaga survived No. 2 UCLA last Tuesday, it was the No. 5 Duke Blue Devils who shocked the Bulldogs. At 7-0 with wins over Kentucky and Gonzaga, Mike Krzyzewski’s team makes a compelling case as the best team in the nation.

On the other hand, the No. 3 Purdue Boilermakers continued their winning ways — albeit against lesser competition. Still, they’ve proven capable of hanging with the best teams in the nation.

Elsewhere, Baylor continues to rack-up victories. The defending champions advanced to 7-0 — defeating the Michigan State Spartans and Tom Izzo in the process.

Unfortunately for some teams, a swift fall down the rankings is in-store following upset losses. The Alabama Crimson Tide were beaten by Rick Pitino’s Iona squad — giving them their first loss of the season. It doesn’t get any easier for Alabama, as their next game comes Saturday against Gonzaga.

As we ready for another week of exciting matchups, the ACC/Big Ten Challenge brings us interesting showdowns. For example, Iowa will face Virginia, Indiana battles Syracuse, Florida State goes up against Purdue and Louisville will look for victory against Michigan State.

However, one of the most interesting games yet trumps all — Duke travels to face Ohio State on Tuesday. Can the Blue Devils maintain their momentum, or will the Buckeyes knock them off?

Time will tell, but here’s the updated Coaches Poll Top 25 following Week 3.
