The college baseball regional round gives quality players around the nation an opportunity to showcase their stuff against other top talents in the game. And in the Vanderbilt Commodores matchup against the Oregon State Beavers, Enrique Bradfield did just that.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, with no outs, Oregon State infielder Travis Bazzana smacks one deep to center field. And that is when Vanderbilt’s Bradfield makes a spectacular leaping catch at the wall for the out. That SportsCenter top 10 worthy play can be seen in the video below.

Although it does not appear that Bazzana put enough on it to clear the wall for a home run, it still would have been likely to be a multi-base hit. But thanks to Bradfield’s defense, that was not the case, and Vanderbilt would only give up one run in the inning instead of two.

More on Bradfield

Bradfield is having a solid sophomore season for the Commodores. For the year, he’s batting a .318, with an on-base percentage of .415, and a slugging percentage of .502. But arguably his most impressive stat comes in the stolen base department. Bradfield has 45 stolen bases on 45 attempts. And number 45 came shortly after his spectacular catch in the 5th inning.

In the fifth, Vanderbilt reclaimed the lead scoring one run in the inning. However, if the Commodores are to leave this game victorious, they will need solid defense down the stretch, key hitting, or a combination of both. Oregon State is the nation’s No.3 team for a reason. The Beavers are one of the NCAA’s top teams offensively and pitching. Heading into the game Oregon State is top 50 in scoring and in hits and is 26 in ERA at 4.20.
