Former Texas A&M star wide receiver and current Jacksonville Jaguar Christian Kirk has been absolutely elite in the NFL playoffs so far this year.

The Jaguars, facing the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round, are 9-point underdogs. The game kicked off with a Chiefs touchdown early in the first quarter. But the Jaguars responded with a perfect drive following an excellent kick return.

With 5:04 left in the first quarter, Kirk lined up in the backfield next to quarterback Trevor Lawrence, ran a bubble route to the right side of the endzone, and caught a perfect 10-yard pass from Lawrence for a touchdown. The extra point after tied the game up at 7-7.

At the end of the first quarter, Kirk had two receptions for 17 yards and the score.

With one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL feeding Kirk the ball, he is having by far his best season of his professional career. Kirk finished the regular season with 84 catches for 1,108 yards with eight touchdowns, all career highs.

Kirk was clutch in Wild Card Weekend too

If you were watching last Saturday night’s matchup of the Jaguars vs. Chargers in the Super Wild Card Weekend, you probably got bored midway through the first half. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw four interceptions, helping the Chargers take a commanding lead.

But, the second half was quite the opposite as the Jaguars found themselves trailing only 10 as they entered the fourth quarter.

Trevor Lawrence found a spark, spraying the ball all over the field, six different players logging a reception.

Arguably the most important catch of the game though came from former Texas A&M wide receiver Christian Kirk. With 5:25 left in the fourth quarter, Lawrence took a snap from shotgun, then delivered a perfect 9-yard touch pass to Kirk on the opposite end of the endzone.

With a defender draped over his back, Kirk secured the ball and made sure to get both feet in play before tumbling out of the side of the endzone.

The reception moved the Jaguars within just one possession, to go along with a successful 2-point conversion. The Jaguars were down only 30-28. They would then get the ball back with only minutes left to kick a game winning field goal, winning 31-30.

Kirk’s catch, along with many other impressive plays from the Jags, set up the score to allow the game winner to be in place.
