WATCH: Kent State players face discipline for MAC Championship after NSFW video

Four Kent State players have been suspended for Saturday’s MAC Championship game following a video posted on social media with NSFW language about their upcoming opponent, according a conference press release.

Kent State will face Akron with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the line at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2. According to a statement from the MAC, Kent State players Malique Jacobs, Cli’Ron Hornbeak and Julius Rollins will miss the first half of the game while DJ Johnson has been suspended indefinitely.

MAC Commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher released the following statement on the NSFW video and the resulting punishment on Saturday morning.

“I’m disappointed this occurred,” the statement reads. “This does not represent the values of Kent State or the Mis-American Conference. However, I commend the leadership of Kent State for being proactive in addressing this matter and collaborating with my office to bring this situation to resolution.”

Conference tournament championship weekend is here, and Selection Sunday is just a day away. Ahead of Saturday’s slate of games, ESPN has released an intriguing final look at the projected bracket with another edition of Bracketology ahead of conference tournament championship games.

The ACC, Big 12, and Pac-12 will play their respective conference championship games on Saturday. The SEC and Big Ten are playing semifinal matchups on Saturday, with championships set to take place on Sunday.

With a lot still up in the air regarding the NCAA Tournament bracket, the results from Saturday and Sunday will be extremely important. There are a lot of questions across the field, from the teams on the top line to the teams still vying for a bid to the tournament.
