Watch list unveiled for Bob Cousy Award

The Bob Cousy Award is given annually by by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to top point guard of men’s collegiate basketball. Moreover, the honor comes with great prestige, as the award is named after six-time NBA champion point guard, Bob Cousy.

Since 2003, the Bob Cousy Award has recognized the top talents of the college basketball world. To illustrate, stars like Jameer Nelson, Kemba Walker and Ja Morant have all added the award to their trophy cases.

Last season, Illinois point guard Ayo Dosunmo was named the recipient of the Bob Cousy Award. Now, he’s playing an important role for the Chicago Bulls in the NBA — averaging 7.9 points per game for one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

Now, the 2021-22 season has brought a new crop of tremendous point guards to choose from. Here’s the watch list for the 2021-22 Bob Cousy Award.

As you can see, the group of point guards features some immense talent. Additionally, there are stars from all over the nation — the SEC, Big 12, WCC, Pac 12, Big East and MWC all represented.

First, Wendell Green Jr. has helped Auburn remain the No. 1 team in the country. Over the course of the season, he’s come in clutch for the Tigers. He even nailed a game-winning layup in crunch time last Saturday against Georgia.

Additionally, Tyger Campbell has built upon his strong tournament last March in 2021-22. On the season, Campbell is averaging 11.1 points and 4.6 assists for the Bruins.

Furthermore, electrifying guards like Alabama’s Jahvon Quinerly, Kentucky’s Sahvir Wheeler and Villanova’s Collin Gillespie would all make great recipients. Continuing, all ten of the players named to the watch list have resumes worthy of being highlighted.

There’s plenty of stuff competition for the 2021-22 Bob Cousy Award. Still, only one point guard will be able to take home the hardware.
