When Kentucky travels on the road to face Florida this weekend, it will provide NFL scouts the opportunity to watch two potential first round picks go head-to-head at quarterback. With Will Levis and Anthony Richardson on the field, the matchup promises to draw big hype regardless of the outcome.

However, as Will Levis explained during his mid-week press conference, Anthony Richardson playing on the other side of the ball has little to do with his preparation and therefor will not enter his mind for long.

“I mean, Anthony is an awesome person,” said Levis. “I got to meet him down at the Manning Passing Academy this year and see him spin it around. Saw him again on media day. But you just try not to pay any attention to it, you know? I don’t read into any of that stuff. That’s something that I’m gonna focus on after the season, not now.”

Despite the approach of Levis, the matchup will remain a talking point for fans and analysts throughout the rest of the season and into the offseason as they discuss which quarterback deserves to hear their name called first on draft night.

Will Levis on opposing fans

Will Levis is also keeping things light ahead of an important showdown for Kentucky in Gainesville against the Florida Gators.

Speaking with the media, Levis had some jokes for reporters as they asked him about the dangers The Swamp presents for opposing teams.

“Hopefully nothing literally,” Levis joked, after being asked if he’s prepared for everything The Swamp will throw at him. “I mean, it’s just football. I love playing away. I think that the extra energy, the extra excitement you get when there’s a bunch of fans booing you just gets me amped up. I think the only thing that’s different is just like we’ve talked about with handling the crowd noise and everything that comes with that, but at the end of the day you’re just playing ball. After that first snap, all those nerves and everything about the environment kind of goes away.

“Just want to make sure again that we’re preparing with our offensive line, making our calls as loud as we can. We know that it’s going to be tough, but nothing we can’t handle.”

Evidently, Will Levis isn’t hoping to be thrust into Lane Kiffin’s shoes while playing at Tennessee. Nevertheless, the Kentucky quarterback knows the challenge Florida presents.
