Xavion Staton is the No. 90 player in the 2025 On3 150. The 7-foot-0 Las Vegas (NV) Sierra Vista center is the No. 13 center in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking.

“My game is a lot of playing off others,” Staton told On3. “You know, playing off the lob, penetration, it is a lot of dunking. Mainly paint play. I’m finding my role, and I’m playing my role so well that it is starting to affect the game, especially my defense drastically.”

It has been a quick rise for Staton, who is now approaching 30 offers but added his first in March of 2023. On3 caught up with Xavion Staton after a recent live viewing at the Tarkanian Classic to talk recruiting.

“I have not taken any official visits yet,” Staton said. “I am going to start taking my visits in January and February, but I don’t have the exact dates set yet. I’m talking with Kansas, Cal, UNLV, and some others about visits. Those three are talking to me pretty heavily.”

“So when I went on my visit I got to meet a lot of the former players, the alumni came back,” Staton said. “Some of them I had heard of, and a lot of them I didn’t. But that was cool. They’re really revolved around a fast-paced game and they utilize their bigs to a great extent. I find myself to be a hustle player, so to be able to hustle around the guards I feel like I could fit pretty well.

“I really like their campus; I haven’t been able to see their whole campus and everything, but their gym was really nice. We went over to a practice and got to see their practice facility. It was really nice and the players got a lot of access to it.”

Kansas and Cal

KANSAS: “I’m doing as much research as I can on these schools, and I am just learning about Kansas. I know they are a blue blood, and they have won national championships, and are a top team now. But I am still learning. They like how hard I play and how much I hustle. They talk a lot about my shot-blocking and say that even if I’m not scoring on the offensive end, that I’m still affecting the game with my defense.”

CAL: “I’ve been in really good contact with the coaches. I really like their personality. I haven’t been able to watch them play yet, and I’m still learning about the school. But I like talking with the coaches. And we talk about everything, it’s not just basketball. We talk about life and school, and we are just working on building that relationship every day.”

“I’ve been talking with Gonzaga quite a bit, a lot of other schools, too,” Staton said. “We’ll see what they do.”

Xavion Staton Talks About His Process

“I’m going to be looking for that family atmosphere,” Staton said. “I want to play for a coach that values me as a player and as a person. They can always promise things on the court, but what is life going to look like off the court? I want to go to a place that has a good student atmosphere, and teammates I get along with.”
