We last updated four-star Yves Missi’s recruitment a couple of weeks ago. Not much has changed from that update, except that Missi has set a commitment date.

At the time of our previous update, there was nothing set and no specific group of schools. Missi, who just recently won the John Wall Holiday Invitational with his Napa (CA) Prolific Prep team, announced he will commit on January 4.

His final three schools are Texas, Baylor, and Stanford. The 6-foot-10 center officially visited Texas and Baylor. He took an unofficial visit to Stanford.

Missi’s recruitment

As I said above, there is not much change from the last update.

Read the 12/22 report

Yves Missi previously announced he would be committing, without setting a specific date, prior to his official visit to Texas. Many around the situation thought the visit to Texas was simply to cross the t’s and dot the i’s. Sources said the trip went according to plan, and Missi was close to making an announcement.

Missi left his visit to Austin on 12/11, and on 12/12, the news broke about Texas head coach Chris Beard.

On December 29, Missi put out the news he would be committing on January 4th. He officially listed his final three programs as Baylor, Texas, and Stanford.

The date is set, the situation at Texas remains unresolved, and Missi has not taken an official visit to Stanford. Missi’s only other visit was an unofficial to UConn, which is not in the top three. Missi also mentioned programs like Alabama, Arizona, Michigan, Kansas, and UCLA later in the process.

However, from what I have gathered, watch for Baylor carrying momentum here. When talking about the Bears, Missi uses words like family and relationship. Sources close to the recruitment also suggest, while very close, this recruitment has not quite crossed the finish line yet. I have also been told Texas is still pushing here.

As we wrote on December 4, Missi could be eligible to enroll at the school he chooses as part of the 2023 class. If the four-star chooses this route, that announcement could come at the time of his commitment; however, it could also come as late as August.
