As a former five-star recruit, there was never a question Peter Woods would find some form of NIL success.

The Clemson freshman defensive lineman announced his first partnership Wednesday night on Twitter. Signing a deal with the Tiger-focused, non-profit NIL collective TigerImpact, Woods will be compensated for supporting and promoting Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate.

“With this partnership, I will have the chance to impact the lives of youth and help close the gap between them and their goals,” he wrote on Twitter.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate works to create and support meaningful one-to-one mentoring relationships with youth.

Founded last April, the TigerImpact aims to raise awareness and assist select community-oriented non-profit organizations. Within months of launch, however, TI signed 16 athletes participating in all of Clemson’s men’s and women’s sports – making it one of the first NIL collectives in the country to achieve this milestone. By July, the purpose-driven collective facilitated nearly 30 deals with athletes who lead as captains for TigerImpact working on behalf of community charities.

Donor-led collectives have popped up across the country, competing to raise the most funds to attract high school recruits and retain athletes looking at the transfer portal.

Woods is the latest football player to sign with TigerImpact, joining recent signees like Justin Mascoll and Toriano Pride. The defensive lineman has a $282,000 On3 NIL Valuation, which ranks in the top 170 of the college football NIL rankings. With nearly 30,000 social media followers, there is plenty of upside on how he can develop his brand.

The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets the standard market NIL value for high school and college athletes. A proprietary algorithm, the On3 NIL Valuation calculates an athlete’s NIL value using dynamic data points targeting three primary categories: performance, influence and exposure.

Peter Woods ‘rare’ talent

A top-20 prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, Woods picked Clemson over Alabama and Auburn. The defensive lineman opted to leave his home state of Alabama, in large part for his relationship with Nick Eason. The Tigers picked up the former Auburn defensive line coach in January 2022; Woods committed to Clemson in July.

He lived up to his five-star ranking this spring with seven tackles, a sack and a blocked kick in the spring game. The performance only proved how big of a role he could play as a true freshman.

“Peter Woods is a guy that is rare,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said during the ACC Network broadcast of the Tigers’ spring game. “He’s like a Halley’s Comet. Every now and then you get a guy that physically and mentally and maturity and all the intangibles, he’s just ready. Man, we’re blessed to have that young man in our program.”
