2025 MLB Draft: Arkansas, Florida State headline list of most picks by college program

The 2025 MLB Draft concluded on Monday afternoon after 20 rounds to kick off MLB All-Star weekend. The Washington Nationals kicked off this year’s festivities by selected high school shortstop Eli Willits with the No. 1 overall pick.

After the dust has settled, 10 programs have emerged as the top feeder teams into the MLB this cycle. Two teams tied for first place with 11 selections. Seven SEC teams made the list as well. Here’s how the rankings stacked up this year:

Arkansas Razorbacks – 11

Arkansas made program history by seeing four players selected during the first day of the draft. RHP Gage Wood was drafted No. 26 overall by the Philadelphia Phillies. Wehiwa Aloy was selected No. 31 overall by the Baltimore Orioles. LHP Zach Root and OF Charles Davalan were drafted with consecutive picks (40th and 41st overall) by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Razorbacks went on to see seven more players selected over the next 24 hours. Arkansas has had a player selected in every single MLB Draft since 1975.

Florida State Seminoles – 11

Florida State had just as much success as the Razorbacks. They finished the opening night with four picks in the first three rounds.

LHP Jamie Arnold was drafted 11th overall by the Athletics, SS Alex Lodise was drafted 60th overall by the Braves, the Dodgers drafted RHP Cam Leiter 65th overall and CF Max Williams was drafted by the Marlins No. 78 overall. They ended up having seven players drafted in the first six rounds.

Georgia Bulldogs – 10

In Georgia’s case, they didn’t have any of their players selected in the first two rounds of this year’s MLB Draft. However, they closed out this year’s event strong with six selections on the final day of action.

Pitcher JT Quinn was taken on the first day of the draft by the Baltimore Orioles in the Competitive Balance Round B. Fellow pitcher Brian Curley was a third-round pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks as the Bulldogs two highest selections.

Arizona Wildcats– 9

Arizona’s nine selections are the program’s most since 2008, and the fifth-most players selected in a single draft in Wildcats history. Like Georgia, they closed out strong with seven selections on day two.

OF Brendan Summerhill was drafted with the 42nd overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft as the team’s highest selection this season. Fellow OF Aaron Walton was the other Wildcat taken in the first round, selected 66th overall by the Cleveland Guardians.

LSU Tigers – 9

LSU star pitcher Kade Anderson was drafted No. 3 overall during this year’s event by the Seattle Mariners. Fellow pitchers Chase Shores and Anthony Eyanson, as well as OF Ethan Frey all went during the first three rounds.

In total, eight of LSU’s nine players drafted were selected in the first 10 rounds. Pitcher Conner Ware was the exception, selected in the 15th round by the Mets. Six of the Tigers’ nine draftees were on their pitching staff.

Arizona State Sun Devils – 9

Arizona State had six players drafted between the rounds eight and 10 to help put them on this list. They saw three go on day one.

Brandon Compton was drafted No. 46 overall by the Miami Marlins was the highest-drafted Sun Devils star. Four Arizona State pitchers (Ben Jacobs, Lucas Kelly, Jack Martinez, Will Koger) were selected during this year’s event.

Ole Miss Rebels – 9

While LSU and Arizona State had an impressive numbers of pitchers drafted this year — Ole Miss is in a league of its own. Aside from 3B Luke Hill, who was drafted by the Cleveland Guardians in the third round, all of the eight other draftees were pitchers.

Mason Morris, drafted No. 83 overall in the third round by the Cincinnati Reds, was the highest-drafted player on Mike Bianco’s 2025 squad. Ole Miss had their pitchers drafted into the 20th round.

Tennessee Volunteers – 9

To round out the five-way tie for third place, Tennessee also had nine players selected in this year’s MLB Draft. Three of those players were drafted within the first 20 picks.

P Liam Doyle was drafted No. 5 overall by the St. Louis Cardinals, SS Gavin Kilen was drafted 13th overall by the San Francisco Giants and 3B Andrew Fischer was drafted 20th overall by the Milwaukee Brewers. Seven of Tennessee’s players ended up being drafted in the first 75 picks.

Oklahoma Sooners – 8

P Kyson Witherspoon was the Sooners’ lone first-round selection, drafted 15th overall by the Boston Red Sox. Three OU standouts were drafted on day one, seeing Malachi Witherspoon — Kyson’s twin brother — was taken 62nd overall by the Detroit Tigers. C Easton Carmichael rounded out the strong start after being taken by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third round, 82nd overall.

Texas A&M Aggies – 8

All eight of Texas A&M’s players were drafted in the first 11 rounds. Their class was headlined by first-round draft choice Jace LaViolette. The star outfielder was selected No. 27 overall by the Cleveland Guardians.

Like several other teams on this list, the Aggies’ draft class was dominated by its pitching staff. Five of their eight players draft were pitchers, led by Justin Lamkin who was selected No. 71 overall by the Kansas City Royals.
