Equanimeous St. Brown, apparently, isn’t the most loyal Notre Dame alum in the history of Notre Dame alumni. The Chicago Bears wide receiver and former Fighting Irish standout would root against his alma mater if there was a matchup between Notre Dame and Colorado down the road. The reason? Deion Sanders.

That’s right, St. Brown says he loves everything that “Coach Prime” is doing right now. And if there was a game between his alma mater and the surging Buffaloes, he’d take CU.

“I love him. I want them to win everything,” St. Brown said. “If they played Notre Dame, I’d root for Colorado. I love that he’s changing up the game.

“There’s so many haters hating on Coach Prime and what he’s doing there. The fact that he beat TCU and now he’s beat Nebraska … I want him to win everything. Just based off how many doubters.”

Notre Dame has to feel a little betrayed by that, right? Right??

But St. Brown apparently is a big fan of Sanders’ style. Colorado has won its first two games of the season with an in-state rivalry contest against Colorado State on the horizon.

“Watching his speeches pre-game and post-game, it’s hard not to love him, you know,” St. Brown continued about Sanders. “I can’t wait for them to beat USC. I can’t wait.”

Notre Dame fans could get on board with that part of it, because of the rivalry. But in terms of rooting for Colorado over the Fighting Irish? That’s probably not going to sit well in South Bend.

Deion Sanders making Colorado State game ‘personal’

State bragging rights were at stake heading into Saturday night’s Colorado-Colorado State contest. But Rams head coach Jay Norvell’s recent comments about Sanders were perceived as disrespectful in Boulder.

During an interview, Norvell took a shot at Sanders for his interview attire — wearing a ball cap and sunglasses. The Colorado State head coach didn’t hold back.

I sat down with ESPN today, and I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, ‘I took my hat off, and I took my glasses off.’ And I said, ‘When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off.’ That’s what my mother taught me.”

How did Sanders respond? During a practice with his team, he had this to say.

“I’m minding my own business, watching some film, trying to get ready. Trying to get out here and be the best coach I can be. And I look up and I read some bull-junk that they done said about us. Once again,” Sanders said. ”Why would you want to talk about us, when we don’t talk about nobody? All we do is go out here, work our butts off, and do our job on Saturday. But, when they give us ammunition, they done messed around and made it what?”

Saturday night’s game is set for 10 p.m. ET on ESPN.
