Bubba Wallace apologizes to spotter Freddie Kraft for 'heart attack' during wild moment at Dover

Bubba Wallace issued an apology to his spotter, Freddie Kraft, for scaring him during the NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover Motor Speedway. On X/Twitter, Wallace shared a video from the dash cam of his No. 23 Toyota avoiding Christopher Bell’s No. 20 Toyota during a spinout.
“Sorry for the heart attack [Freddie Kraft],” Bubba Wallace wrote. “This one fired me up.” During the video, Kraft is heard yelling “Woah!” Kraft is then heard laughing before yelling “Woah” again.
It was big for Wallace to avoid that spinout from Bell because it helped him earn a top-10 finish at Dover. After starting the race in 22nd place, Wallace finished seventh and kept his playoff hopes alive. Currently, the 31-year-old has the final spot in the playoffs and his 16 points above the cut line. With five races remaining, Wallace has to either win a race or have consistent, strong finishes to give himself a chance to compete for a NASCAR Cup Series title.
Can Bubba Wallace finish the 2025 season strong?
It’s been an interesting season for Wallace. There have been times where he would finish in the top five, but there have been other times where he would finish near the bottom of the field.

“I think the thing that’s surprised me about Bubba is just how well they started the season. Like, ‘Oh my gosh, this No. 23 team is going to be on fire,’ and the wheels have just fallen off of the No. 23 car,” Kevin Harvick said about Wallace on Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour last week. “From a speed standpoint, we’ve seen it. He showed up at Chicago and he had all the issues that he had in qualifying, and the dumb move in the race there with the No. 48. Took himself out and cost himself a bunch of points.
“It’s just been really, really all over the place, for not only the No. 23, but the No. 45. The No. 45 hasn’t done anything that we expected him to do, from a speed standpoint, race standpoint. They’ve been off. We talk about the lawsuit and things like that, but they’ve just been off, compared to where the No. 23 started, and the No. 45 never even had that shining moment yet.”
