Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle withdrew his name from consideration for the Philadelphia Eagles’ OC job, per The Athletic’s Dianna Russini. Doyle will stay in Chicago under Ben Johnson to coach Caleb Williams.

Doyle began his coaching career in 2016 with Iowa, his alma mater. After spending a year at Iowa Western playing baseball, Doyle was a student offensive assistant with the Hawkeyes for three years.

From there, Doyle was hired as an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints, coaching there from 2019-22. He was then hired by the Denver Broncos as the tight ends coach from 2023-24 before coming to Chicago ahead of this season.

Now, he’ll stay in Chicago rather than head to Philadelphia, where they continue to search for fired OC Kevin Patullo’s replacement. LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. also pulled out of consideration for the role Monday.

Doyle aided a Bears offense that saw a resurgence in 2025. Williams, in his second year as the quarterback, finally broke out.

This year, Williams went 11-6 as a starter and led Chicago to an NFC North title. He threw for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 58.1% completion percentage.

Doyle helped oversea an offensive explosion in the second half of the Bears’ Wild Card victory over the Green Bay Packers a couple of weeks ago. However, Chicago fell short in overtime to the LA Rams in the Divisional Round.

Now that Eagles have moved on from Patullo, the new OC will have a loaded offense featuring Jalen Hurts, Barkley, AJ BrownDeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert, as of now. It remains to be seen who they will continue to target, considering ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently reported Philadelphia could look for an OC with more experience than recent history. Other linked candidates have included former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll and former Kansas City Chiefs OC and Bears head coach Matt Nagy.

Patullo was with the Eagles under Nick Sirianni sine 2021 as the pass game coordinator. He was also the associate head coach in ’23 and ’24, helping the team win Super Bowl LIX last year.
