College Football Playoff: Betting odds released for Ohio State vs. Miami Cotton Bowl game

After a hard-fought victory against Texas A&M in the first round of the College Football Playoff, Miami advances to the Cotton Bowl to face Ohio State. The game will serve as a quarterfinal matchup for the CFP with the winner inching closer to the ultimate goal of a championship.

The initial odds are out for the matchup between the Hurricanes and Buckeyes. According to BetMGM, Ohio State enters as a 9.5-point favorite. The over/under is set at 42.5.

The Buckeyes and Hurricanes also met previously in the Fiesta Bowl in 2003. Ohio State claimed that contest, 31-24.

This season, Miami snuck in as the last at-large bid following a 10-2 finish. The Hurricanes won a defensive battle against Texas A&M by a score of 10-3 as Mark Fletcher Jr. rushed for 172 yards.

Ohio State is coming off of a bye after earning the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff. The defending national champions, the Buckeyes went undefeated this regular season before falling against Indiana in the Big Ten Championship.
