Corey Day violently flips into catchfence during High Limit race at Nebraska

A scary wreck in the Eagle Nationals on the High Limit Racing circuit in Nebraska left onlookers extremely concerned. Luckily, Corey Day was able to walk away from the wreck unharmed.

It’s a minor miracle, too. Day flew into the catch fence outside the track after pressing for the lead.

The part-time NASCAR Xfinity Series driver was battling Buddy Kofoid for the lead when he hugged the outside of the track. His wheels butted against the railing and he slipped over the top, sending his car soaring into the outside catch fence after a few flips.

Safety crews quickly came out to tend to him. Corey Day was fine, and eventually his car was towed away from the scene.

Still, it was a scary wreck for the full time High Limit driver. With $55,555 on the line, too, it’s little wonder that he was pushing it to the max in the race to the finish line.

In the Xfinity Series, Corey Day has accumulated 66 points total this season, with three coming from stage points. He has appeared in three races for Hendrick Motorsports, most recently finishing in 11th at Nashville.

In the Craft Truck Series, Day has seen a little more participation. He has run six races for Spire Motorsports, producing his best finish (5th) at Nashville.

Corey Day’s wreck comes one week after another big wreck for Hendrick Motorsports. Last week, Kyle Larson violently flipped into a catchfence during a World of Outlaws race at Plymouth.

Kyle Larson wrecks at Plymouth

Kyle Larson had a scary moment in the World of Outlaws race at Plymouth Dirt Track when his right rear axle broke. Flying around the track, the NASCAR champion was pacing off of Rico Abreu when he was launched into the fence by the force of his own car.

Going into Turn 1 early in the feature race, Larson’s right rear wheel popped off and it sent him tumbling and eventually sent him up into the air and into the fence. For a moment, it looked like he might clear the fence itself.

Larson got out of the car and cut an interview right after. He was fine, and there weren’t any issues with him racing later that weekend at Michigan. This is one of those hits that will make Rick Hendrick and Jeff Gordon cringe. And they can breathe another sigh of relief after Corey Day’s wreck on Tuesday night.
