According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Cowboys have added Greg Zuerlein to the Reserve/COVID-19 list. The kicker will miss his first game of the season against the Atlanta Falcons.

Zuerlein has been shaky so far for the Cowboys, going 14 of 18 on his field-goal attempts. As for extra points, he has already missed two of the 23 with a 91% conversion rate.

Dallas signed Zuerlein to a three year, $7.5 million dollar contract during the 2020 offseason. He had spent his entire career with the Rams, in both St. Louis and Los Angeles. When special teams coach John Fassel was hired by Mike McCarthy, the kicker made the switch over as well.

Gehlken is also reporting Lirim Hajrullahu is “a name to watch” for the Cowboys, who will be holding kicking tryouts on Wednesday. Hajrullahu spent the preseason in Dallas and has been on the practice squad ever since.

Other injury news for Dallas Cowboys

Looking for positive news with the Dallas Cowboys, wide receiver Michael Gallup will return this week. Mike McCarthy said he is going to be a full participant in practice on Wednesday. From there, the expectation is that he plays on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Gallup played in the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before exiting in the second half. Dallas placed him on injured reserve with a calf strain. There was a chance the wide receiver played last week against the Denver Broncos but he ended up staying on IR.

He will now rejoin what is already one of the best offenses in the NFL. Adding Gallup into the equation with Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb is going to be a scary sight for opposing defenses.

On the season, Gallup has four receptions for 36 yards. He was a key part of the Cowboys’ offense throughout his previous three seasons, having 2,493 career receiving yards. 2019 was his best season, going for over 1,100 yards and having six touchdowns.

Flipping back to not-so-good news, Dallas will continue to be without defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence. After breaking the fifth-metatarsal in his foot during practice leading into Week 2, he has not played.

McCarthy said Lawrence is not going to begin his 21-day practice window this week. As a result, he will miss the Cowboys’ game against the Falcons.

Randy Gregory has been the main replacement at the defensive end position, having five sacks and two forced fumbles on the year.
