Daniel Suárez finishes first on track, doesn't win after penalty in Brazil

The first race of the NASCAR Brasil weekend is in the books. Despite crossing the line in first, Daniel Suárez did not win the race. A five-second penalty for rough racing cost him the checkered flag.
Now, in the NASCAR Cup Series, rubbing is racing. Unlike touring series around the world, or an F1 for example, rough racing penalties are very rare. Putting the bumper to someone to make a pass, allowed. Put the door to them to get around, sure, why not?
Daniel Suárez raced Leo Torres a little tough. He got physical, but it didn’t look egregious. The newlywed isn’t too worried about it as he received a five-second hit and dropped to P6.
In fact, he’s having a laugh about it.
The NASCA Brasil officials did not appreciate the driving that Suárez was displaying. So, they punished him for it. At least he knows for the next race coming up this evening, and Sunday’s race as well.
Daniel Suárez went to Brazil to get married and decided to do a little racing while he was there. He’s already been hit with a penalty.

Daniel Suárez gets married, goes racing in Brazil
I love seeing how other countries do stock car racing. The cars in the Cup Series are nothing like the Mexico cars, which are nothing like Canada, and nothing like Brazil, either.
Racing in the No. 91 Chevy, Daniel Suárez has been sharing images and videos from his preparation. He will participate in three races total, with the finale coming on Sunday.
Suárez won the Mexico Series race at the LA Coliseum. Then he won in one of the closest finishes ever in NASCAR history in the Cup Series at Atlanta. I think we are likely to see him in Victory Lane once more. This time, in Brazil.
With his wedding this week, Daniel Suárez is now officially a member of the Piquet family. His wife, Julia Piquet, is the daughter of former three-time Formula 1 champion and Brazilian racing legend, Nelson Piquet.
