The NFL Draft looks like it’s going to have three straight quarterbacks taken at the top of the first round. One of those quarterbacks is Drake Maye out of North Carolina, who is currently getting ready for the NFL Combine amid his preparation for the draft.

While making an appearance on The Adam Schefter Podcast, Maye opened up about who exactly he’s excited to meet at the NFL Combine.

“I think any time meeting the head coaches or the players in the draft, I know a lot of the quarterbacks in the draft, but meeting some of the guys in person,” Drake Maye said. “I know Marvin Harrison a little bit. You know, MHJ, I’ve gotten to know him a little bit. Seen some of the other guys like Brock [Bowers], some of the top guys. It’s always fun to get to know them, pick their brain.”

While Maye is excited to meet those other players, he is also excited for the chance to meet executives and coaches at the NFL Combine.

“Coaching wise, I think the big thing is GMs, coaches, just being there asking questions. How they got there? I think one of the best stories people talk about is Robert Kraft and how he got to his place. So, sitting there and asking him how he got there and stuff like that.”

Picking third in the NFL Draft, Robert Kraft’s New England Patriots are currently considered one of the teams that could land Drake Maye. Along with New England’s owner, however, there are plenty of coaches who he wants to meet.

“The different teams, different coaches. I’m a big fan of Coach [Mike] Tomlin and the Steelers. I’ve always been a fan of Coach Tomlin. So, I’ve got some guys I’ve gotten to know that have played for him, and they just love him. So, just meeting guys like that who you cheer for,” Maye said.

“The NFL has such great coaches. Coach Reid, Andy Reid, pick his brain about how he’s so successful. So, just coaches like that. Just football guys. Just try to get in there and talk a little ball.”

Joel Klatt says Drake Maye would be ‘slam dunk’ No. 1 pick in NFL Draft if not for Caleb Williams

There are a lot of analysts who love Drake Maye this NFL Draft. That includes Joel Klatt, who says he could have been a first overall pick if not for USC star Caleb Williams.

“Drake Maye is as good as I’ve seen in a long, long time. Let me put it to you very simply – if it wasn’t for Caleb Williams, Drake Maye would be the slam dunk No. 1 pick in this draft. And I don’t think it’s that close. I think that these two guys are separated from the rest of the quarterback pack, even some of these other really good players,” Klatt said.

“He made a couple of throws with guys – by the way – they had some guys opting out, they didn’t have a lot of great players on the outside. And this dude made some throws against a really good Oregon team that blew my mind. He and Caleb Williams make plays and make throws that other guys cannot make – both on schedule and off schedule. Maye and Williams are physically more gifted than the other quarterbacks on the list.”
