Amari Cooper and the Dallas Cowboys could run it back in 2025, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Cooper is currently a free agent and there might be some mutual interest to return to Dallas.

Cooper played for the Cowboys from 2018-21 before being traded to the Cleveland Browns, where he spent two and half years. After half of a season with the Buffalo Bills, the former Alabama star might return to where he became one of the premier pass catchers in the game.

Heading into Year 11, Cooper might want big money, but might not command it according to Fowler. So, something’s gotta give.

“Amari Cooper, Cowboys do need an extra wide receiver coming out of the draft,” Fowler said on SportsCenter. “They did not take one. I’m told there was at least some mutual interest between Amari Cooper and the Cowboys having some sort of reunion. Now, the Cowboys don’t want to spend big here.

“Amari Cooper’s made, you know, nearly $140 million in his career. He’s probably not eager to take a low deal here. They’d have to work something out. But as one source told me, that this might be good for both sides to come back together and run it back.”

Cooper played for the Browns and Bills last season, totaling 44 catches for 547 yards and four touchdowns. In his career, Cooper has 711 catches for 10,033 yards, 64 touchdowns and 14.1 yards per catch.

Originally drafted by the Oakland Raiders out of Alabama, Cooper was productive right away, catching 72 and 83 passes, respectively, and eclipsing over 1,000 yards each in his first two years. He had a resurgence in Dallas when he was traded midseason in 2018.

He set a career high in catches in 2020 with 92 and helped the Cowboys get to the postseason in 2018 and ‘21. Cooper logged six catches for 41 yards in three playoff games for the Bills last season.

The five-time Pro Bowler was a BCS National Champion and Unanimous All-American while with the Crimson Tide, including being named SEC Offensive Player of the Year in 2014. It led him to being the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Cooper finished his Alabama career with 228 catches for 3,463 yards and 31 touchdowns. He had a career high 124 receptions in 2014.

As a member of the Class of 2012, Cooper was a four-star recruit out of Miami (Fla.) Northwestern, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 9 overall prospect in the state, the No. 8 wide receiver in the class and the No. 44 overall prospect in the class.
