Former NFL star Adrian Peterson was arrested for DWI in Texas, according to a report from TMZ. One of the league’s all-time greats at running back, Peterson was reportedly arrested in Sugar Land, Texas on Sunday morning.

Peterson was booked on two charges of DWI and one charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to TMZ. This is his second arrest this year for charges related to drinking and driving.

The former running back was arrested in Minnesota in April after attending a public draft party for the Minnesota Vikings. He was charged with driving while impaired, a misdemeanor charge.

According to a report by ESPN, police officers saw Adrian Peterson driving 83 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone. After administering a blood test, officers observed his blood alcohol content at 0.14%, above the legal limit in Minnesota of 0.8%.

Peterson has also had domestic violence and child abuse cases in the past. He last played football in 2021.

On the gridiron, Adrian Peterson was virtually unstoppable. And his dominance in football started at an early age. He was a three-sport standout in high school at Palestine High School in Texas.

He starred in football, but he also played basketball and ran track. Peterson put on a show in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl during his senior season, rushing for 95 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries. He announced there that he would play his college ball at Oklahoma.

While at Oklahoma he was named the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2004, as well as the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year. He also won the Jim Brown Trophy and was a unanimous All-American.

Peterson was a three-time first-team All-Big 12 selection from 2004-06 before turning pro. When he went pro, he was the No. 7 overall draft pick in 2007.

He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings, where he would do most of his damage as a professional. He was the NFL MVP in 2012, as well as the league’s Offensive Player of the Year. He also earned NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2007.

Adrian Peterson was a seven-time Pro-Bowler, a four-time first-team All-Pro and a three-time second-team All-Pro. He led the league in rushing yardage three times during his career.
