WATCH: Former Notre Dame star Blake Wesley show varied skillset at workout
Former Notre Dame men’s basketball star Blake Wesley has impressed so far as he prepares for the 2022 NBA Draft. On Saturday, while in front of a number of NBA executives and scouts, Wesley showed varied skillset during a workout at the CAA Pro Day.
In the video below, you can see the former Fighting Irish guard showing off some of his impressive athleticism during a few drills.
Wesley completed just one season at Notre Dame. As a true freshman, the South Bend, IN, native led the team in scoring, averaging 14.4 points per game on 40.4% shooting from the field and 30.3% from deep. He also added in 3.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and led the team in steals at 1.3 per game.
Wesley also racked up a number of awards in his long season with the fighting Irish. He was named to the All-ACC second team and ACC All-rookie team. Wesley also won rookie of the week, co-rookie of the week, and freshman of the week a handful of times.
According to ESPN’s most recent mock draft, Wesley is projected as a late first-round pick, with his likely landing spot being a Memphis Grizzlies. If he lands in Memphis, he will team up with another young talented, athletic guard in Grizzlies superstar point Ja Morant.
Jaylin Williams announces decision to stay in 2022 NBA Draft
Arkansas has seen the last of Jaylin Williams in a Razorbacks uniform.
Williams took to Twitter on Saturday to announce his decision to keep his name in the 2022 NBA Draft. He averaged 10.9 points per game this season to help the Razorbacks to a 28-9 overall record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.
“To Razorback Nation, Thank you!” Williams wrote. “For a kid that grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas, it has been nothing but a dream come true these past two years. All of the love has been felt. From court rushes to the March Madness runs, we could’ve never done it without all of you.
“From a very young age my dream was always to play in the NBA. That said, after careful consideration and many talks with my family, I have decided to forgo my remaining NCAA eligibility and pursue my lifetime goal of competing in the NBA.”
Williams’ name came up in one NBA mock draft from ESPN, and Jonathan Givony projects him to go to the Detroit Pistons as the No. 46 overall pick in the second round. He also participated in the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago earlier this month to try and improve his draft stock.
