FOX Sports' Curt Menefee addresses Mark Sanchez stabbing, arrest on NFL pregame show

Former NFL quarterback and current FOX Sports analyst Mark Sanchez was hospitalized and arrested following a stabbing in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday morning. “FOX NFL Sunday” host Curt Menefee acknowledged the situation early in Sunday’s show.
“Friday night in Indianapolis, one of our team members, Mark Sanchez, was involved in an incident that, to be honest, we’re all trying to wrap our heads around,” Menefee said, via Awful Announcing. “At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, his family, and all those involved.”
Sanchez, 38, is facing misdemeanor charges of battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication, according to police. He was in the hospital in stable condition following injuries suffered in the stabbing. Brady Quinn is filling in for Sanchez in the booth alongside Chris Myers for Sunday’s Week 5 game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Las Vegas Raiders.
FOX59’s Angela Ganote reported Sanchez was not cooperative with police when they first got to the scene near Senate Ave. and W. Washington St. in downtown Indianapolis. Ganote added another man, who was listed as the victim in the police report, told officers he was delivering food when Sanchez told him he needed to move and could not park where he was.
The man then said Sanchez began threatening and followed him before attacking him, Ganote reported. After the man used pepper spray, he said he defended himself with a knife, and police said the man had a “significant injury to his face,” according to Ganote.

911 dispatch audio leaks after Mark Sanchez stabbed, arrested
TMZ reported later Saturday evening that it had obtained the 911 dispatch audio from the moments after the incident occurred. The calls shows that first responders reacted quickly, making their way to the scene once there was word of a stabbing. One man told the rest of the group to lock down the bar where the altercation occurred, letting no one in or out.
Police also discussed whether there were any cameras in the area to give themselves a better picture of what had happened. Word arrived that a man, later identified as Sanchez, was in critical condition from the stab wound.
Another part of the audio showed that police said two people had been stabbed. TMZ reported that this lines up with officer statements, which said one person suffered stab wounds while the other had lacerations.
Sanchez played 10 years in the NFL after becoming the No. 5 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft out of USC. He joined FOX Sports as an analyst in 2021.
