The No. 4 seeded Fighting Irish first defeated Louisville to advance to the semifinals, where they absolutely throttled the league’s No. 1 seed, Virginia Tech, by an 82-53 final score, to advance to today’s title game. Meanwhile, NC State is the No. 2 seed and eked by Duke 54-51 in game one before handing out their own blowout, 69-43, against Florida State to advance to the championship game. These have been the two best teams this weekend and they’ll duke it out for an auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Wolfpack and Irish met just once during the regular season, with NC State visiting South Bend and leaving with an ugly but impressive 59-43 win. Despite the low score, the Pack put four players in double figures in that contest as balance was the key along with a stout defensive effort against ND.

Odds for Notre Dame vs. NC State

FenDuel line: Notre Dame -4.5 points
FanDuel money line: Notre Dame (-235), NC State (+172)

Despite NC state owning a decisive head-to-head win on Notre Dame’s home court and better record overall, the Fighting Irish are favored by several points in the ACC title game. Perhaps that’s because ND hasn’t lost since getting thumped by the Wolfpack at home, rolling off seven straight wins including this run to the conference championship game, finishing tied for second in the standings but losing the tiebreaker to NC State.

But NC State is a 27-5 basketball team that already put a lid on Notre Dame once and did so on the road. Now, on a neutral court that is in the state of North Carolina and far closer to the Pack than the Irish up in northern Indiana, State is somehow a decent underdog and greater than +170 to win the game? Interesting. The oddsmakers at FanDuel certainly seem to like this Notre Dame team the way they’re playing right now.
