Isiah Pacheco injury update: NFL insider offers latest timeline for Kansas City Chiefs' RB return

Another update has emerged on Kansas City Chiefs star running back Isiah Pacheco after he left Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals with an injury.
Pacheco is being placed on injured reserve, as expected, but he will be back this season, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Fowler provided a timeline for when the former Rutgers star will return to action.
“Source: #Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (fibula) expected to miss approximately 6-8 weeks. He’ll go on IR but plans to be back this year,” Fowler posted on Twitter Monday afternoon.
Isiah Pacheco fractured his fibula in the come-from-behind win.
In the 26-25 victory, getting the Chiefs to 2-0, Pacheco ran 19 times for 90 yards and reeled in five catches for 21 yards. In two games this year, he had 135 rushing yards and one score.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport added more insight into what Pacheco is dealing with, stating that he is set to have surgery this week. He added that an exact timeline will be provided following the surgery.
Isiah Pacheco has been a revelation for the Chiefs since they drafted him in the seventh round out of Rutgers in 2022. Over the course of his career, he has 1,900 yards, 13 touchdowns, 4.6 yards per carry, 64 catches, 428 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions.
Pacheco played four years at Rutgers (2018-21) and finished his career with 563 carries for 2,442 yards, 18 touchdowns, 4.3 yards per carry, 47 catches, 249 receiving yards and one touchdown reception.

As a member of the Class of 2018, Pacheco was a three-star recruit out of Vineland (N.J.) South, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 20 overall prospect in the state, the No. 55 running back in the class and the No. 705 overall prospect in the class.
With Pacheco out, the Chiefs are reportedly looking to add a running back. One option could be former Kansas City back Kareem Hunt.
The former third round pick played for the Chiefs in 2017-18, before being with the Browns from 2019-2023. He led the league in rushing as a rookie in 2017.
Hunt is reportedly visiting the Chiefs on Tuesday, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter.
“With RB Isiah Pacheco expected to be sidelined 6-8 weeks, the Chiefs are bringing their former RB Kareem Hunt back to Kansas City for a Tuesday visit, per league sources,” Schefter posted on Twitter Monday afternoon. “Hunt could help fill the Chiefs’ running back void.”
