Jake Ferguson injury update: Mike McCarthy provides update on Dallas Cowboys TE

Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy had good news on the injury to tight end Jake Ferguson postgame after a 33-17 win against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. McCarthy told reporters that Ferguson was “in good spirits and moving around well in the locker room” according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.
The third-year pro out of Wisconsin left the game with a left knee injury with 6:23 remaining in the third quarter. He did not return on the afternoon and finished the game with three catches for 15 yards.
It was also reported postgame that Ferguson will get an MRI on the injury and will have more information Monday. The tight end is hopeful that it is just a hyperextension, and added that he felt he could have returned to the game if necessary.
Ferguson moved into the starting tight end role for Dallas in 2023 after the departure of Dalton Schultz. He had an impressive season to finish with 71 catches for 761 yards and five touchdowns.

The Cowboys were looking forward to seeing another step forward from Ferguson this season, and hopefully the injury isn’t serious enough to set him back on that path.
Dallas moves on to face the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, and Ferguson’s status will be worth monitoring ahead of that contest.
