Jayden Daniels injury update: ESPN reveals timeline for return for Washington Commanders QB

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels could be back Week 5 with his knee injury. Daniels won’t play Sunday on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.
Washington is dealing with a handful of injuries, which include Daniels and WR Terry McLaurin. Fowler reported the team is unsure of when McLaurin will return to the lineup since he is week-to-week.
Daniels tried to make a push for Sunday’s game, but was held out in favor of backup Marcus Mariota, who gets his second straight start. But Daniels should be back before too long.
“He’s got a chance for Week 5 against the Chargers,” Fowler said on SportsCenter. “They feel like in Washington, he’s trending in the right direction here. This wasn’t quite clear on the knee issue. Part of this is a mobility factor. This is a true dual threat quarterback … They want to make sure that he can do everything he needs.
“So he did get close. He was pushing to play this week, practiced two days. Didn’t quite get there. The question is, when Daniels comes back, does he have Terry McLaurin? That’s an issue right now because he’s week to week, not expected to go on injured reserve, but it is still unclear when he’s going to be back.”

Daniels underwent an MRI on his knee following Washington’s loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night of Week 2. Ultimately, it turned out that he had a sprained knee.
There had been some hope that he wouldn’t miss time at all, but that didn’t happen with the team choosing to play it safe. Now, he’ll miss another game as he looks to get back to normal for the Commanders.
ESPN‘s Adam Schefter provided the latest on McLaurin’s status on ‘Get Up‘ on Thursday morning. Dealing with a quad issue coming out of Week 3 and having yet to practice so far this week, Schefter said Washington could be trending toward McLaurin being out against the Falcons on Sunday.
“In that same game, the Commanders look like they very well could be without Terry McLaurin, who suffered a quad injury on Sunday against the Raiders. Left the game, has been undergoing additional testing on that quad,” Schefter said. “Did not practice on Wednesday. If he doesn’t practice again today, that would tell you that this is certainly trending in a direction in which the Commanders are unlikely to have Terry McLaurin on Sunday.”
