It’s been nearly a decade since Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has had to deal with injury reports. But Chargers fans should fear not, as their head coach has a plan for dealing with those reports going forward.

“So, for clarity, whenever I’m asked about anybody’s medical condition, other than my own, the following will be my best effort to relay information: I am not medically qualified to categorize or speculate as to how someone else is feeling,” said Harbaugh. “The best I can do is say that someone is working through something. Two: I get the report from those who are qualified and then follow the instructions. Three: if at times I look or sound like I am not a medical expert in the field of medicine, guilty as charged.”

Fresh off of finishing the 2023 college football season with a national championship victory as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, Harbaugh appears to be in high spirits heading into his 1st season as an NFL head coach since leaving this in Francisco 49ers in 2015. And Harbaugh is using that energy to have a little fun while addressing injury concerns now and in the future.

Chargers announce plantar fascia injury for Justin Herbert, expected to be ready by regular season

The Chargers franchise quarterback Justin Herbert is set to be sidelined from training camp with a plantar fascia injury to his right foot, the team announced on Thursday. Herbert is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season.

To rehab the injury, Herbert will apparently spend the next two weeks, approximately in a walking boot to rest the plantar fascia before gradually working back up to playing health. The process and timeline for his return to play were not specified beyond the regular season deadline.

The nature of Herbert’s injury to his plantar fascia is unclear.

The plantar fascia is the portion of tissue on the bottom of the foot, connecting the heel to the back of the toes. It’s a normally quite resilient part of the human anatomy but can start to suffer from small tears over time. And as anyone who has ever had plantar fasciitis can attest to the general, radiating pain throughout the foot.
