Josh Jacobs, the star running back for the Raiders, is getting worn down by these one-score losses. On Sunday, his team was driving until a late, devastating interception. It was like a different song, but with a monotonously same verse.

So he and the rest of his teammates had to watch the Chargers celebrate at SoFi Stadium. Meanwhile, the Raiders had to deal with a 24-17 loss, their third defeat in four games.

“I’m tired of losing,” Josh Jacobs told reporters in post-game. “Just keep it 100. I’m tired of f—ing losing, man. I feel like every day I go in there and work my a– off, so eventually something got to give.”

He added: “Five to six plays, you do them right, (it’s) the difference in the outcome of the game. But at the same time, you’re tired of saying five to six plays…it’s just time to do that sh*t”

Dating back to the start of 2022, the Raiders have played in 16 games decided by one score. They’ve won only five of the 16. Coaches often spin these situations as turning on a handful of plays. Sounds like Josh Jacobs is dismissing it all.

Jacobs, the defending NFL rushing champ, ran for 58 yards and a touchdown. He also caught eight passes on 11 targets for a career-high 81 yards. There wasn’t much more he could have done. He scored the touchdown to get the Raiders to within 24-17.

The Raiders-Chargers loss was different than the other two defeats this season. That’s because Jimmy Garoppolo was out because of a concussion. So rookie Aidan O’Connell got the start. This time a year ago, he was quarterback at Purdue. O’Connell completed 24 of his 39 passes for 238 yards. His lone interception came right before the 2 minute warning, when Asante Samuel picked the ball at the Chargers 2. Plus, the Chargers harassed O’Connell all afternoon. Khalil Mack sacked him six times.

Josh Jacobs, the former Alabama star, held out of training camp in a contract dispute. He signed as the regular season was about to start. So he’s had a slower start to his season. He rushed for 166 yards and is averaging only 2.7 yards per carry.

The running back also had concerns with his teams’ penalties.

“It’s undisciplined football, and this league is too competitive,” Jacobs said. “It’s too competitive and it’s too many guys that’s good out there to not do the little things right every play. Until we figure that out, this is going to be what it is.

“It’s frustrating, man. And I mean, I feel like every day I go in there and work my ass off. So, eventually, something’s got to give.”
