Kevin Harvick compares his beef with a young Joey Logano to Carson Hocevar

It seems like a different driver has a problem with Carson Hocevar week after week. That’s evoked memories of a young Joey Logano for Kevin Harvick.
Back when Logano was driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, Harvick and the young wheelman had a bit of beef that came to a head at Pocono Raceway. While Harvick was driving for Richard Childress Racing in the No. 29, he decided enough was enough, turning Logano late in the race, after he made enough of his peers mad.
Those memories came up with Pocono on the schedule for this coming weekend. Harvick compared Logano back then to the way Hocevar is being received now, and it’s evident he had no regrets about spinning the young JGR wheelman.
“Logano was at that Hocevar stage, where it was just one of those things where he was always into it with somebody,” Harvick explained, via Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour. “That was just one of those days where I was in that Stenhouse position, it was like, ‘You’re not chopping me off today. I’m tired of racing you, and I’m spinning your ass out right now.'”
With how it all worked out for Harvick and Logano, many are wondering if someone should turn Hocevar is a similar fashion. Harvick’s advice? Don’t worry about the penalty that might come after, it’s something that sometimes has to be handled on the track, regardless of the coin.

“You just have to not worry about the penalties,” Harvick preached. “You just have to follow your gut and just go for it. If you feel like jumping over a car or causing some chaos, you just have to do it. I used to have slush fund. I set $50,000 a year aside for fines.”
Whether it’s Ricky Stenhouse Jr. or someone else, it seems like we’re almost at that point with Hocevar. He’s made enough of his fellow wheelmen mad that there’s a driver who won’t hesitate if they get raced in an aggressive manner.
Whoever that is remains to be seen. Fans, media members and fellow drivers alike will be watching the No. 77 Chevrolet closely though, wondering the same thing.
Kevin Harvick has a ton of respect for Joey Logano now, and it all worked out for both drivers since their kerfuffle back in 2010. Perhaps one day we’ll be saying the same thing about Carson Hocevar and some other veteran. He wouldn’t mind turning into a three-time champion either.
