Khalil Mack injury update: Report reveals severity for Chargers star after leaving Monday Night Football game

The Los Angeles Chargers held their breath on Monday night, waiting for news on star pass rusher Khalil Mack. Thankfully, the severity does not seem to be as bad as initially thought. Because, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Mack will only wind up missing a few weeks.
“#Chargers legend Khalil Mack, who left Monday’s win over the #Raiders with a dislocated elbow, is expected to be back in a few weeks, per me and @MikeGarafolo,” Rapoport said via X. “Not season-ending. Good news for LAC, as Mack has looked like his usual productive self for this stellar defense.”
Mack left Monday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders due to the elbow injury. He was attempting to tackle Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker on a play, landing weirdly when falling on the grass. Getting up and holding his left arm, Mack was carted back to the locker room. Later on, he appeared back on the sideline in a sling.
A lot worse diagnosis could have come a couple of days later. Instead, Mack should return to the lineup at some point in 2025, aiming to help the Chargers make a playoff return. Through two games, there is already a sack and tackle for a loss next to Mack’s name. One of the best in recent times, head coach Jim Harbaugh will be hoping to get the pass rusher back healthy.

Why Khalil Mack re-signed with the Chargers
In March, Mack re-signed with the Chargers on a one-year, $16 million contract. Shortly after the signing, the Buffalo alum explained why he wanted to return to the Chargers for his fourth season with the team.
“Everything kind of played into it,” Mack said, per Chargers.com. “Just want to know your value, want to know what you meant to the team or a team in general. Just trying to figure that out and then go from there in making the decision on where and when and how and all the different intangibles of who’s here, who’s there.”
Mack then said the Chargers have “tremendous leadership here. You’re about the players in the locker room, I was talking about that last year. Just knowing what you’re stepping into, being very familiar with the guys that we have already here, and knowing what Coach [Jim] Harbaugh is building and what Joe [Hortiz] is building. That was a no-brainer.”
