How do you celebrate a $1,000,000 payday? How about a full-lap burnout and a pumped-up interview like Kyle Larson after the NASCAR All-Star Race? You could feel Larson’s excitement as he got out of that car. However, pulling off another burnout around the entire track is something else. If Larson gets a short-track win, he’s going to try to burn it down all the way around.

After he parked the car on the finish line and got out, he let the crowd cheer him on some more. Someone tossed him a Twisted Tea and he let the celebration commence. When he got a microphone in his face, he knew just what to say to those fans who had packed out North Wilkesboro for the weekend.

“I can’t even tell you what it means,” Larson said after the race. “This is my third All-Star win at my third different track at a historical place like this. You guys in the crowd made this weekend so awesome. We could feel the atmosphere all weekend. So much fun there. That was an old-school ass whooping for sure.”

This North Wilkesboro race almost brought us all the way back to the 1990s as Larson attempted to lap the entire field. But how about this celebration afterward?

Tonight was a dominating win for Kyle Larson and the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports team. They were able to give their fans a weekend to remember. This race wasn’t close, but watching Larson find a groove on the track no one else could match and run away with it was special in and of itself.

Kyle Larson sweeps North Wilkesboro weekend

This weekend, Kyle Larson wasn’t even supposed to be in the Truck Series race at North Wilkesboro. Yet he got in the No. 7 Spire Motorsports truck to replace Alex Bowman and won the Tyson 250. He had a terrible car in practice on Saturday and in the heat race. Yet he won the All-Star Race in convincing fashion, at one point picking up a 12-second lead.

For the No. 5 team, you couldn’t have scripted it any better. The return to North Wilkesboro will forever be defined by Larson and what he did out on that track. He took that truck on Saturday and found the pavement on the inside of the track and used it. Then, he basically did the same in the Cup Series race.

At one point, Kyle Larson was hit with a speeding penalty on pit road. He moved up through the field so quickly, I didn’t realize he had served the pass-through yet. It was truly shocking how fast he was able to move up the field and use his fresh tires to his advantage.

This race wasn’t the closest finish ever. Bubba Wallace came home P2 with teammate Tyler Reddick P3, about four and six seconds behind Larson. So, again, not a close race. But a dominating performance from one of the best to ever race a stock car. He’s only 30 years old, too.
