Kyle Larson reacts to potential playoff format in High Limit Racing
When Kyle Larson and Brad Sweet brought in the concept of charters to High Limit Racing, it made fans wonder what was next. Was Larson going to completely copy the NASCAR model and bring it to sprint car racing? Well, don’t worry too much.
While Kyle Larson’s High Limit Racing has charters, that’s about as far as the similarities go with the Cup Series. In case you were worried about a playoff format coming into High Limit, put that aside. There’s no chance of that happening, according to Larson.
“I would hope, and I’m pretty certain, that will never happen in sprint car racing,” Larson said on the High Limit Room podcast. “Like, even the late model playoff that they have, I think, is better than what we have in NASCAR, but still it’s not like, I don’t know. It’s not fair. Or not the fairest way. To me, it doesn’t even really add that much excitement at all to a dirt season.
“So, no. No, there will be no playoff or winner-take-all sort of thing. Hopefully, I think, even in NASCAR, I hope we’re done with the winner-take-all, it sounds like. So, yeah, fans don’t have to worry about that. I don’t want to keep going on because I’ll get myself in trouble talking.”
While Kyle Larson has won two Cup Series championships in the winner-take-all format, he isn’t a big fan. That’s completely understandable. You could argue that he’d have two or three championships already under the old season-long points format.

Kyle Larson and High Limit Racing headed to Australia
In just a few weeks, the High Limit Racing series is heading to Australia and the Perth Motorplex. Kyle Larson and 10 other Americans are heading Down Under to race for $110,000 AUD in the richest sprint car race in the country’s history.
The connection between America and Australia with sprint cars is awesome. We have seen the Supercars and NASCAR connection grow in recent years. However, there is a lot more in common between the two countries and the motorsports we both enjoy.
Even a driver like Shane van Gisbergen has given dirt and sprint cars a spin in New Zealand and Australia. Now, how do we get SVG into a High Limit race, or even the Chili Bowl Nationals?
Kyle Larson is an international star in motorsports. More events like the High Limit Race in Perth are only going to help grow his stardom.
