Lamar Jackson injury update: Baltimore Ravens QB missing practice after leaving early Wednesday

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will miss Thursday’s practice after leaving practice early on Wednesday. The Ravens previously said that Jackson had his foot stepped on during Wednesday’s practice, but was fine.
During Wednesday’s practice, Jackson was inadvertently knocked to the ground about 90 minutes into practice, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. The two-time NFL MVP stayed on the field to throw a couple more passes before heading into the facility with a team doctor and trainer. Hensley said that Jackson was flexing his right wrist before leaving practice.
The Ravens could be playing the safe game with Lamar Jackson and giving him some time to rest. It’s likely Jackson will not play in the Ravens’ preseason finale against the Washington Commanders on Saturday, since he hasn’t played in a preseason game in four years. Jackson has not missed a game with an injury since the 2022 season.
“I was thinking like, ‘Oh, he’s probably just resting his arm or something like that,'” Ravens wide receiver Tylan Wallace said about Jackson leaving practice earlier on Wednesday, per the team’s official website. “Obviously, we’ll keep him in our prayers and everything and hope he’s doing great. But with Lamar being Lamar, he’ll be back before we know it.”

Lamar Jackson is not thinking ‘about Super Bowl yet’
Jackson is looking to get the Ravens a Super Bowl title after coming up short the last few seasons. During the 2023 season, Baltimore lost to the eventual champion Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Conference Championship. Last year, the Ravens lost to the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the playoffs.
“To be honest, I’m really not trying to think that far [ahead], because every time we had those discussions, man, we get to the playoffs, but we don’t punch in,” Jackson said last month when asked about Super Bowl aspirations. “We don’t finish, so I’m pretty much just trying to finish camp the correct way and then get ready for the [Buffalo] Bills. I’m not really trying to think about the Super Bowl yet.”
Lamar Jackson finished the 2024 season with 4,172 passing yards, 41 touchdowns and only four interceptions, while rushing for 915 yards and four scores. He finished second in MVP and Offensive Player of the Year voting.
