Lamar Jackson injury update: Ravens QB's Friday practice status revealed

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who missed last Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans with a hamstring injury, did not practice again on Friday. He will likely miss his second consecutive game this weekend against the Los Angeles Rams.
Following Sunday’s game against Los Angeles, the Ravens will enjoy a much-needed bye week. This means that Jackson should 100% be back in time for Baltimore’s Week 8 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
Jackson suffered the injury in Baltimore’s blowout 37-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4. Through four games this season, the two-time Most Valuable Player has passed for 869 yards, 10 touchdowns and just one interception. On the ground, Jackson has rushed for another 166 yards.
“No Lamar Jackson yesterday,” ESPN insider Adam Schefter said on Thursday morning’s ‘Get Up‘. “It is tracking for him not to play again on Sunday. Let’s keep in mind that the Ravens have a bye week after this upcoming game against the Rams. So, if Lamar Jackson doesn’t play Sunday and right now it doesn’t seem like he will, he would get two weeks to rest up that hamstring injury and then make a push in the second half of the season.”
Baltimore has opened season with dreadful 1-4 record
Baltimore, lauded as one of the preseason Super Bowl favorites, has opened the season with a dreadful 1-4 record. That includes two close losses to Buffalo and Detroit when Jackson was healthy, and a blowout loss to Kansas City in a game in which Jackson was banged up. It suffered a 44-10 loss to the Houston Texans last week in a game in which Jackson was not active.

As of now, it’s the Pittsburgh Steelers that lead the AFC North at 3-1. So, the Ravens are already playing catch-up. Another loss before the bye week and Baltimore would be sitting in a massive hole at 1-5. Even with a schedule that eases up in its level of difficulty and a healthy Jackson, it would certainly be an uphill battle to sneak into the playoffs.
Since Jackson went down, Baltimore has turned to Cooper Rush. A formerly undrafted quarterback, Rush is best known for his time with the Dallas Cowboys, where he was the backup to Dak Prescott. Now, he’s in his first season with the Ravens. In three games this season, he’s completed 69.7 percent of passes for 231 yards and three interceptions. He doesn’t have a touchdown pass.
Baltimore is set to host Los Angeles on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST. It hasn’t been made official yet, but it appears that the Ravens will turn to Rush ahead of an injured Jackson once again.
